Benefits of Adoption
When you adopt a companion animal from SPECIAL PALS you are:
Opening up your heart to a new family member who is willing to give you a lifetime of unconditional love and affection filled will joy and kisses!
Helping offset the overpopulation of pets, currently there are nine dogs & cats to the one human in the U.S.A. this is an on going crisis and leaves millions of animals without homes. One homeless animal is euthinized every “eight seconds” in U.S.A. Shelters. When you adopt from us we will be able to pull another companion from a kill shelter.
Helping to support the thousands of animals cared for by SPECIAL PALS staff through our adoption program, low cost shot clinic, spay and neuter program and boarding. Making a wise choice and choosing not to buy from a puppy mill, whose first consideration is money, not the health and welfare of the animals.
Our adoption package is valued at $280.00 or more depending on the emergency medical expenses and heartworm treatments it includes the following:
General Exam –eyes, ears, nose, throat, skin, body condition, and temperament.
Spay/Neuter Surgery – all animals are altered BEFORE leaving the shelter. Isoflourane gas, injectible anesthesia, separate sterile packs, dissolvable sutures, and antibiotic injections are given used on each animal. During preparation, surgery, and recovery, pets are constantly observed with heart/pulse monitors. Worm towels, cuddly critters warming disk and heating pads are used to keep the body temperature regulated.
Tattoo – all shelter animals altered by SPECIAL PALS receive a tattoo signifying the animal has been sterilized, hereby preventing unnecessary future surgery. Tattooed animals are generally held longer at shelters and animal controls and are more often put up for adoption.
Food and Housing – many of our furry friends have been cared for at SPECIAL PALS for many months some even years.
Vaccinations / Tests – Dogs and Puppies: Canine distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Coronavirus, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, parainfluenza, bordetella bronchiseptica vaccine and rabies vaccination. All cats and kittens are vaccinated against – Rhinotracheitis, Callici, Panleukapenia, Chlamydia, Psittaci, and all felines are tested for feline leukemia and all canines are tested for heartworms.
